Bryan Mecham

"My name is Bryan Mecham. I am a Santaquin native who has spent the past 20 years serving this community. I began my career in the Public Works Department before transitioning to Recreation, where I supervised the sports side of the department. For the past three years I have served as the supervisor over the parks department. Despite my busy schedule, I love spending as much time with my family as I can. I have been married to my sweetheart, Ashley, for 14 and a half years, and together we have a 10-year-old daughter Nikita. In my free time, I enjoy all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, hiking, golf, and softball. I am a candidate for city council, hoping to bring my unique perspective as both a city employee and a lifelong citizen of Santaquin to the table. I am currently pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams by working on a new business in custom water filtration."
David Hathaway

"My name is David Hathaway, and I am running for re-election to your city council. I wanted to take a moment and share a little bit about myself to those who may not know me.
I was born in Payson, Utah, and moved to Santaquin when I was 19 years old. I have lived here for over 42 years, and I call Santaquin my home.
In my free l time, I enjoy attending local city celebrations. I never miss a rodeo, and I am a huge fan of a good fireworks show. I enjoy traveling and camping with my brothers and their families, and I love a good Sunday drive.
I like to consider myself a friend to all, and I believe positivity can change the world.
If re-elected, this will be my fourth term in office. It has been a privilege to be a part of the city council, and I look forward to continuing my service to this community. I hope you will vote for me in the fall. Always remember to stay positive and keep smiling. "
Sending love and friendship
-Council Member David Hathaway
J. Travis Keel

"My name is J. Travis Keel and I am running for Santaquin City Council. My wife, Lacey, and I moved our 6 kids to Santaquin 5 years ago when I took a job for Payson City as a law enforcement officer. Lacey and I grew up in Delta where I worked as a law enforcement officer and served on Delta City Council for two years before I took the job in Payson. Our family has loved living in Santaquin and enjoy its hometown feel.
Growing up in a farming community I recognize the role agriculture serves in Santaquin and support our agribusiness culture. I chose to run for city council because I enjoy politics and I realize that the most important decisions are made on a local level. I believe the city government should provide certain services such as sewer, clean safe water, and safe roads. I also believe that when you call 911 you should be able to get the help you need from police fire and ambulance services. Like most people I want low taxes, but I understand that for the government to provide those essential services, they must be appropriately funded. If elected I promise to make responsible decisions with your sacred tax dollars, and to work toward solutions to keep your taxes and cost for services as low as possible. I also believe in respecting personal property rights. I embrace the principles our founding fathers believed in when this great country was founded, and will work to protect those rights and principles as a Santaquin City Council Member. "
Michael Romero

"My name is Michael Romero and I am a candidate for Santaquin City Council, looking forward to bringing my wide range of community experience. My involvement has taught me that the public demands a lot from their elected officials. They expect their representative to listen to them, to study and understand their concerns, needs and issues. As a council member my commitment to the community is to be transparent, accessible and accountable to my constituents.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart Kathy Poulsen Romero, for 49 years. We have four incredible adult children and five precious and wonderful grandchildren. We have been residents of Santaquin for a little over two years. In 2020 after being retired for 8 months from 30 years in the insurance industry, my wife and I decided to downsize and move to a completely new place. When we found our home in Santaquin we immediately fell in love with the open space, the orchards, farms and beautiful mountains. But most importantly, we were impressed with the people and their sense of community pride.
From an early age there was a mentor in my life who impressed upon me the importance of community involvement and participation. I was taught to give back and make the community a better place than I found it. Throughout my adult life I have lived this advice. I have a broad range of experience working with diverse groups, organizations, different churches, local, county and state governments.
Currently I serve on the Santaquin Planning Commission and on different boards and charities in Utah. I work at C.S. Lewis Academy which is a charter elementary school in our community teaching Spanish-speaking students to learn to read and write in English. I’m vice-chair on the Murray Childrens Pantry Board which serves familes in need. I hope to expand the pantry’s service in our community. Other experience in my past includes serving ten years on the Utah Transit Authority Board of Trustees and three years as chairperson of the Murray City Personnel Advisory Board."
